5 Billionaires, In Books & Quotes To Help You Model Their Success

The best thing I did was to choose the right heroes — Warren Buffett

Making money isn’t easy.

I’ve had a lot of it, I’ve had a deficit, and I can tell you one thing. No matter where you’re at, you don’t lose the hunger, and you don’t lose the fear.

I think the biggest appeal for most people in making a billion dollars, is the idea that you’ll have a surplus that can stand between you and your fears.

I don’t know if that’s a healthy concept. I don’t know if money is the root of all evil. I don’t even know if I could handle a billion dollars.

All I know is — it’s possible. Because anything is possible.

I’ve been working my way through 15 books on the business practices and lives of billionaires, to model their actions and behaviours:

— John D. Rockefeller

— John D. Rockefeller

— Jeff Bezos

— Jeff Bezos

What we need to do is always lean into the future; when the world changes around you and when it changes against you — what used to be a tail wind is now a head wind — you have to lean into that and figure out what to do because complaining isn’t a strategy

— Jeff Bezos

3. Sam Walton: Made In America

There is only one boss. The customer. And he can fire everybody in the company from the chairman on down, simply by spending his money somewhere else

— Sam Walton

Outstanding leaders go out of their way to boost the self-esteem of their personnel. If people believe in themselves, it’s amazing what they can accomplish

— Sam Walton

You can make a lot of mistakes and still recover if you run an efficient operation. Or you can be brilliant and still go out of business if you’re too inefficient

— Sam Walton

4. The Snowball: Warren Buffett and the Business of Life

Someone is sitting in the shade today because someone planted a tree a long time ago.

— Warren Buffett

It takes 20 years to build a reputation and five minutes to ruin it. If you think about that, you’ll do things differently.

— Warren Buffett

The best thing I did was to choose the right heroes.

— Warren Buffett

5. Losing My Virginity: How I Survived, Had Fun, and Made a Fortune Doing Business My Way

A passionate belief in your business and personal objectives can make all the difference between success and failure. If you aren’t proud of what you’re doing, why should anybody else be?

— Richard Branson

My attitude has always been, if you fall flat on your face, at least you’re moving forward. All you have to do is get back up and try again.

— Richard Branson

By putting the employee first, the customer effectively comes first by default, and in the end, the shareholder comes first by default as well.

— Richard Branson
